Alex vs. BrightHire
BrightHire is interview intelligence. It records, transcribes and analyses the interviews your recruiters and hiring managers run, and it is genuinely good at making those conversations more consistent and more coachable. Alex runs the interviews itself. Alex asks the questions, scores the answers, checks who is on the other end, and books what comes next. If your problem is that your interviewers are inconsistent, BrightHire is the tool. If your problem is that too few candidates reach an interview at all, Alex is. Many teams end up running both. Here's the side-by-side.
What each tool actually is
BrightHire is an interview intelligence platform. It sits on top of the interviews your team already conducts: capturing them, transcribing them, pulling out highlights, and feeding structured-interview guides and coaching back to the interviewer afterwards. It also supports async interviews.
Alex is an AI recruiter. It conducts interviews over video, phone or WhatsApp, scores it against the role, verifies integrity and identity, coordinates scheduling against live calendars, and writes results back to your ATS. The subject of the product is your candidates.
Those are different jobs, and in a lot of stacks they can work together. Alex works candidates through the funnel, BrightHire improves the human loop.

Where BrightHire fits
Interviewer coaching. BrightHire analyses how your interviewers ask questions and coaches them afterwards, but it only improves interviews that already happened.
ATS depth. Deep two-way sync suits a single-ATS shop with unusual field requirements.
If improving the interviews your own team runs is your only constraint, BrightHire will do the job.
Where Alex pulls ahead
Reach, and who actually shows up
BrightHire's candidate-facing surface is an async interview or a captured live one — both of which assume a candidate who has already committed to a scheduled slot or a recorded submission. Alex works the stage before that. It runs on video, phone and WhatsApp, with SMS carrying invitations, reminders and scheduling. WhatsApp is the one that carries global hiring.
Coordination is the other half. Alex does full calendar coordination — time zones inferred from area codes, blackout hours so nothing lands at 11pm — against BrightHire's calendar sync plus async. The metric here is completion, not features.
Integrity scoring at the screening stage
Alex's cheat detection scores video, audio and transcript for external assistance, AI-generated answers, multiple speakers, eye and head movement and voice-changing tools, against a threshold you set anywhere from 0 to 100 per role. Cross it and the interview is flagged for human review, with every signal broken out by analysis type in the candidate report. Fraud verification runs separately, scoring identity from email, phone, IP and digital-footprint signals — disposable addresses, VOIP numbers, VPNs, résumé-to-profile mismatches — and optional ID verification adds a document-and-selfie check enabled per job.
All of that lands before a human has spent an hour on the call. Configurability is the part buyers underrate: an integrity system you can't tune per role produces either noise or nothing.
What to test in a pilot
- Completion rate on your hardest-to-reach role, not your easiest
- Days from application to a scored, reviewable interview
- Share of interviews flagged for integrity review, and the false-positive rate when your team checks them
- Whether scores and transcripts write back to your ATS without a CSV
- Whether the two tools overlap at all in your stack, or cover different stages
The verdict
Choose BrightHire if the interviews your team already runs are the thing that needs fixing, and coaching interviewers is the win you're buying. Choose Alex if the bottleneck is earlier: too many applicants, too few screens, too slow, too little certainty about who's on the call. If both are true, run both.
See Alex on your own roles
The fastest way to settle this is to watch Alex screen for a requisition you're actually struggling to fill. In 30 minutes we'll run your role, show you the integrity signals on a live interview, and connect to your ATS so you can see results land where your team already works.
