Alex vs. Asendia

Alex vs. Asendia

Asendia is an AI recruiter built around the voice screen, backed by 50+ ATS integrations and a real scheduling engine. It's a lean way to replace the recruiter phone screen. Alex is built for teams whose problem is bigger than the call itself: reaching candidates on the channel they'll answer, proving the person on the other end is who they claim to be, and holding certified privacy and outbound-contact compliance. Asendia suits a phone-first funnel you want live quickly. Alex suits multi-channel hiring where identity and audit evidence matter. Here's the side-by-side.

What each tool actually is

Asendia is an AI recruiter. Voice is the interview format: it calls candidates, runs a structured conversation, scores it, applies behavioral integrity signals, coordinates times against calendars, and pushes results into 50+ ATS platforms.

Alex is an AI recruiter with a wider surface. Interviews run over video, phone and WhatsApp, with SMS handling invitations, reminders and rescheduling. Alex scores the conversation, verifies integrity and identity, coordinates scheduling with automatic time-zone detection and blackout windows, and writes back to 100+ ATS platforms.

Where Asendia fits

One modality, done deliberately. Asendia is voice-native rather than a video tool with phone bolted on. It's less to configure, provided every candidate you need is one who answers an unknown number.

Real ATS coverage. 50+ platforms settles the write-back question, if your ATS is on the list.

If a phone-only screen with minimal implementation lift is your only constraint, Asendia will do the job.

Where Alex pulls ahead

An identity check, not just a scored call

Asendia can tell you a conversation looked irregular. It can't tell you whether the person speaking is the person who applied.

Alex separates those questions. Cheat detection scores video, audio and transcript for external assistance, AI-generated answers, multiple speakers, eye and head movement and voice-changing tools, against a per-role threshold from 0 to 100, with each signal broken out by analysis type in the candidate report. Fraud verification scores identity independently as Low, Medium or High, from disposable email domains, VOIP numbers, VPN use, CNAM mismatches and résumé-to-profile inconsistencies. A document-and-selfie ID check switches on per job.

Voice-only screening is where this gap bites hardest. A call carries no face, no document and no screen, so the identity question has to be answered around the conversation rather than inside it. For regulated, licensed or remote roles, behavioral scoring is not a substitute.

One channel is one point of failure

A voice-only product assumes every candidate answers an unknown number. Many won't: shift workers mid-shift, candidates screening out spam calls, anyone abroad facing international minutes.

Alex runs video and phone interviews, adds WhatsApp for calls and messages, and uses SMS for the invite-and-reminder layer. WhatsApp is the one that changes global funnels: already installed, running on wifi rather than billable international minutes, and answered.

Type II, and an artifact behind the compliance claim

Asendia's SOC 2 is Type I: a point-in-time review of control design. Alex's is Type II, which tests whether those controls actually operated over a period of time. It takes months of audit work, and it's the version most enterprise security teams require before signature.

What to test in a pilot

Run both against the same open req and compare:

  • Completion rate on your hardest-to-reach role, not your easiest
  • Days from application to a scored, reviewable interview
  • Share of interviews flagged for integrity review, and how many turn out to be false positives
  • What each tool tells you, and when, if a candidate's identity signals look wrong
  • Which SOC 2 report type each vendor can send today

The verdict

Choose Asendia if your screening is entirely phone-based, your ATS is on their list, and you want something narrow live fast. Choose Alex if candidates need more than one channel to reach you, if you need identity verified rather than inferred, or if your security review asks for SOC 2 Type II.
